With OBI’s range of products, you can easily remodel your home yourself. Their range includes products and services for DIY, construction and gardening. Today, OBI has more than 640 stores across Europe.

Walking the talk from digital strategy to technology implementation

The main objective was to significantly expand the product range and service offering and provide OBI customers with an even better user experience.

As a first step, mindcurv supported OBI in developing the marketplace and technology strategy. As a second step, OBI selected VTEX as the core e-commerce platform and designed the platform architecture together with mindcurv. Then, integrated teams consisting of OBI and Mindcurv members implemented the solution and launched the marketplace in early 2024, well before the start of the important spring season. Since then, OBI has operated the platform through a POaaS engagement with mindcurv. mindcurv is also supporting OBI for future evolution of the platform.

A value-added marketplace that increases revenue and expands OBI’s offering through third-party sellers

The brand-new marketplace has been integrated into OBI's digital retail environment and is part of a completely new transaction hub for all digital OBI channels.

A key element of the marketplace is the opportunity to expand the product offering and, thus, generate additional revenue. In addition to strengthening online revenue streams through expanded organic reach, OBI now acts as an intermediary for third-party sellers and generates revenue through transaction commissions. Numerous third-party sellers have now been connected and offer their product range on the OBI marketplace. End customers are now offered many additional, high-quality products, which fit in well with the existing OBI range and complement it well..

The new online marketplace serves to expand the business and is a fundamental and strategic step towards successful positioning in the digital era. Our implementation strategy ensures that OBI can rapidly innovate for future readiness.
